If you have any further questions, feel free to get in touch - we’re always happy to help.

1. Getting Started / First Visit

  • What services do you provide at each location?
Oceanblue, Papamoa: our home base. All therapies are offered here - Massage, Hybrid Therapy and Cosmetic Needling.

Studio 18, Mount Maunganui: a satellite clinic dedicated exclusively to Cosmetic Needling. Teresa operates from The Skin Girl, a beautiful advanced skin therapy space within Studio 18.

  • What can I expect at my first appointment?
Your first appointment begins with a thorough consultation to understand your needs, health history and goals. We will discuss any relevant considerations, outline your treatment and recommend a plan to support your desired outcomes.

  • Do I need to fill out any forms before my appointment?
Yes. An online intake form will be sent to you via text prior to your appointment. This helps us prepare for your treatment and ensures we can make the most of your time in clinic.

2. Choosing the Right Treatment

  • What is Hybrid Therapy?
Hybrid Therapy is a targeted, results-driven treatment that blends advanced dry needling and acupuncture techniques with complementary therapies such as cupping, fascial release, scraping, and heat where appropriate.  It is ideal for relieving acute or chronic pain, restoring mobility and reducing tension while still offering a deeply restorative experience. Each session is tailored to your needs on the day.

  • What’s the difference between massage and Hybrid Therapy?
Hybrid Therapy centres around needling and acupuncture techniques to work at a deeper level, often providing faster and longer-lasting results. It can be particularly effective for acute pain or areas that may not tolerate hands-on pressure.
Massage is fully hands-on throughout the session, focusing on muscular release, targetting trigger points, relaxation and overall wellbeing.
Both are highly effective and the choice often comes down to your preferences and what your body needs at the time.

3. Booking & Appointments

  • How does the online booking system work?
Our online booking system allows you to select your preferred treatment, therapist and time. A credit card is required to secure your appointment; however, you will not be charged at the time of booking and can pay in clinic after your treatment.

  • Can I request a specific therapist?
Yes. You can select your preferred therapist when booking, or choose the “no preference” option.
Please note that not all therapists offer all services.  Once you select a therapist, you will only see the appointment times for the treatments they provide.

  • Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes. Gift vouchers can be purchased online, where you will receive a printable e-voucher instantly.
Physical vouchers are also available in clinic. If you would prefer this option, please contact us to arrange a suitable time, as we may be with clients and unable to assist with walk-ins.

4. Visiting the Clinic

  • How do I find you at Oceanblue?
Oceanblue Health & Fitness is located in Papamoa Plaza. Access is down the side of the plaza opposite Bay Radiology, look for the Oceanblue signage.  Enter through the main entrance where you'll be greated by the friendly Oceanblue front desk team. Our clinic is just behind reception.

  • Will I be able to find a park?
Yes there is ample parking available at Papamoa Plaza.

  • What should I do if I arrive early?
You’re welcome to come inside Oceanblue, where a team member will direct you to a comfortable waiting area near reception.  Facilities including toilets and a water cooler are available. We will come and collect you at your appointment time.  Please don't bang on our door - we may be finishing off with the client before you :-)

  • What should I do if I am running late?
Please call or text us to let us know. We understand that delays can happen; however, as we are often fully booked, your session may need to be shortened to avoid impacting other clients.

5. During & After Your Treatment

  • What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Your therapist will guide you on what to remove depending on your treatment and you will always be appropriately draped for comfort and privacy.

  • Does sports massage or dry needling hurt?
All treatments are tailored to your comfort level. Some techniques, such as trigger point work, can feel intense but we do not take a “no pain, no gain” approach.  Pressure and needling style are always adjusted to suit the individual.

  • Will I be sore after my treatment?
Some post-treatment soreness can occur, particularly after Hybrid Therapy or deeper massage work. This typically lasts up to 24 hours and is often followed by reduced pain and improved movement.  Your therapist will guide you on what to expect and provide appropriate aftercare advice.

  • Can I train or exercise after my treatment?
This depends on your treatment and individual presentation. In some cases, rest is recommended to allow your body to integrate the treatment.  In others, specific movement may be beneficial during the nervous system "remodelling" window post treatment. Your therapist will guide you on what’s most appropriate.  If your treatment is in the lead up to a competition or event, allow two full days recovery beforehand.

  • How often should I come for treatment?
This varies depending on your condition and goals. Often, a short series of 2-3 treatments is recommended initially, followed by maintenance sessions to support long-term results.  We’ll guide you with a plan that supports both immediate relief and ongoing wellbeing.

6. Safety & Considerations

  • Is needling safe?
Yes you're in safe hands. Teresa has over 10 years of experience in needling and has completed extensive professional training. All treatments are performed within scope of practice and are fully insured.

  • Are your treatments covered by health insurance?
Yes. Teresa and Tatia are registered providers with Southern Cross Health Insurance and can process claims via Easy-Claim at the time of your appointment.  Please ensure you have the appropriate wellness module on your policy. When booking online, select “Southern Cross Medical Clients.”
Other insurers may also provide cover—we can issue a receipt for you to submit with your claim.

7. Policies

  • Do you have a late cancellation or no-show policy?
Yes. Cancellations within 6 hours of your appointment, or failure to attend, will incur a fee of 50% of the treatment cost. This will be charged to the card provided at the time of booking.
We do apply discretion in certain circumstances.
